From Bamburgh castle, we continued onward to Edinburgh.
Edinburgh is a pretty amazing city. We got there at dusk so we only walked around for an hour or two that night, exploring the grounds around the Edinburgh castle, through the cemetery, and the nearby streets in town. We found a bite to eat and then headed to The Beer Kitchen by Innis & Gunn for some local (delicious) drinks. We enjoyed ourselves and the drinks there so much that one drink turned into two and then three..
We eventually headed back to our AirBNB steal of a deal for the night and woke up early the next morning to explore the city more. We explored around Edinburgh castle some more, went through the Scottish National Gallery, and walked up many, many stairs to the top of the Scott Monument (up the tiniest, most cramped, winding staircase I've ever seen in my life) to get a great view of the city and Arthur's Seat below!
I thought we'd be spending the rest of the day in Edinburgh, but little did I know that Jeff had his proposal planned for later this afternoon, so while my dad and I were happy taking our time around town, Jeff was sweating profusely and was in a panic that we weren't going to leave Edinburgh in time for his big surprise!
A statue of Jeff + I in the Scottish National Museum..
Stay tuned for the next blog post -- it's all about our Scottish engagement!!! ♡
